Learning To Walk With God (Part 1)

I picked up a new book to read from my bookshelf, flipped to the middle of it to see if it would be a good next book to read in my study of servanthood, leadership, living in the spirit and it's benefit - joy, and I stumbled upon these words, “Concerning the control of the Holy Spirit in our lives, Paul says, ‘Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.  Instead be filled with the Spirit.’ ~Ephesians 5:18.  In order for him to control our lives, we need to yield continually to the Spirit’s control.  Surrender to him is not once-for-all, but a moment by moment, day by day yielding.  And such surrender is not an option, but a command.  Every believer should be spirit-filled.  When an individual is spirit-filled, the results will be very evident in his life: Victory, Power, & Quality.”  And Charlie Riggs goes on to explain those virtues in his book, “Learning To Walk With God.”  This was such an encouraging and thought-provoking answer to what I had just been searching out!  Not only can we live in the spirit all the time, we are commanded to and it’s even better than the joy of being drunk because there are no bad side effects to the joy we get from living in the spirit!  And just now, I read this quote on Facebook: “No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it.  Those who seek find.  To those who knock it is opened." ~C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce.
