I think I've lived my life like Boromir. I've sought the prize for my own hand under the guise of helping others and realized too late; only after I had my chance to do the job I was hired for - to protect the ring and it's bearer - that I utterly failed, and, actually tried to sabotage my mandate. I only began to come to my senses too late; after when I've driven my charge into exile, and now, without protection. Sure I came late to the party, and no one can deny that I realized the real truth before the end; and I did my best, then dying in the service of my oath and under the gaze of my King... Yes, I died with honor, and that's good. That's a worthy goal. But, I should have lived with honor too, and protected the little ones as I promised. I should have lived with honor and lived honorably to fight another day, than to waste the strength given me only on my own selfish ambition. You want to be honorable? Don't just die honorably after all chance for real shining glory has passed. Live that shining glory every day. Fight. Win! And die of old age while praying on your knees - giving your strength to the next generation of fighters. Encourage and help those on their quests with whatever help you can offer. Then you can say that you lived with honor too, instead of just dying with honor. Make a difference for others instead of just for yourself.
